Transforming Our Culture of Violence
1. Partnership Against Abuse
Our goal is to focus on addressing women and children's experiences of violence by engaging women and children in discussions on risks, safety, the rights of victims; and in identifying immediate difficulties to disclosure and what needs to be addressed.
The mission engages key community leaders, including Barangay chairmen, community leaders, elders, schools, and key community partners, including law enforcers, health stations, community services, hospitals, and emergency responders.
Through these partnerships, education and exploration of assault response strategies that incorporate the experiences of the victims will be provided. We also examine community procedures that line with cultural practices and provide safe procedures that empower women and support disclosure and reporting.
2. Women in Employment Program
Our foundation offers an integrated skills training program that combines employability skills upgrading, technical training in the field of computer networking, and hands-on work experience to produce employment outcomes for unemployed or underemployed women. The program includes educational upgrading and mentorship in partnership with our foundation and other stakeholders.
3. Misses' Group
The Misses' Group is a group mentoring program that offers weekly meetings, events, field trips, community service projects, and confidence-building activities over the course of the school year. The program begins by bringing mentors/counselors and mentees together in a large group for guided activities with facilitators.
Later, the facilitators divide the group into smaller peer-led mentoring groups. These groups meet weekly with the guidance of the facilitator. The smaller mentoring groups begin to develop relationships that last many years.
The groups participate in team-building activities and group projects. The goal of the program is to ensure each girl feels supported by her peers, has strong self-esteem, and a sense of belonging within her community.
4. Empowering Teen Project
This program is designed for teen boys and girls. It helps them learn how to build healthy relationships, develop confidence, and identify and pursue their dreams. Through this interactive program, teens, especially girls, are encouraged to discover their strengths and abilities.
There is a strong focus on helping each girl to find her voice and become comfortable sharing her ideas. The program includes workshops/discussions, guest speakers, social activities, field trips, as well as creative activities like art, music, and dance.
5. The Voice Arts Program
This is an artist-led project, and the goal is to embolden and empower girls who face social difficulties through activities such as dance, drama, literary arts, music, new media, and visual art. The program will involve twelfth and fourteenth-grade students from one school for the first two years.
6. It Girls, Exercise and Be Healthy Mentally
This school-based group program inspires girls ages ten to fourteen to develop positive habits around physical activity, balanced eating, and self-esteem. In the program, eight girls are matched with two advisers for two months.
Each of the weekly sessions has a topic focus, such as goal setting, dealing with bullying, decision-making, and leadership. These topics are all related to the key themes of active living, balanced eating, and feeling good about oneself. The goal is to help girls improve a positive sense of self and set them on a path to reach their full potential.
After the two-month IT Girls! Program, a higher mentoring component continues weekly for the rest of the school year. The goal is to keep building the girls' resilience, knowledge, skills, relationships, and confidence. There will be a general assembly once a year with participation by different schools, public or private, represented by student leaders. (This could be similar to Olympics games or camping.)
7. Building Healthy Relationships
The foundation will be offering workshops to help young women and men gain self-esteem and a strong sense of self-worth. These workshops will also provide tools for developing healthy relationships.
Participants will learn about available resources. These resources include how to reduce the impact of violence in their lives; how to develop a greater sense of control over their own future; and how to make positive changes in their communities.
